Ways to customize registry files of windows operating system

If you want to customize your operating system, then you have to manually edit registry files or you can have install some software to do that!
To open up registry files,
Go to run > type regedit and enter.
Or open windows task manager > new task > type regedit and enter.
Create a shortcut for windows registry, to access it easily whenever you want.
Right click on blank space of desktop > new > shortcut > type regedit and next > finish.


To know about .reg files, and its location
Open those files in notepad, you can able to see the location of registry files.

Before working with registry file, create a backup for those files since it customizes the operating system, if there is any mistake in it, hard to correct it back.
You can also use some freeware to back up registry files such as Regback or ERUNTgui.
To change a registry files, double click on it and change the settings. Sometimes, it will show you some error like that you don’t have the permission to edit these files.
To know it, rightclick on that file > properties > advanced > owner
To create a username of yours to access and edit those registry files.
1.Trusted Installer : Type in NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller, click Check Names then click OK.
2.System : Type in System, click Check Names and then click OK.
3.Administrators : Type in Administrators, click Check Names then click OK.
4.Your Username : Tye in Your Username, click Check Names then click OK.
5.Users : Type in Users, click Check Names then click OK.

To edit registry files through command prompt, here is a list of .reg files parameters,
1.Reg add : Adds a new subkey or entry to the Registry.
2.Reg compare : Compares specified registry subkeys or entries.
3.Reg copy : Copies a subkey to another subkey.
4.Reg delete : Deletes a subkey or entries from the Registry.
5.Reg export : Creates a copy of specified subkeys, entries, and values into a file in REG (text) format.
6.Reg import : Merges a REG file containing exported Registry subkeys, entries, and values into the Registry.
7.Reg load : Writes saved subkeys and entries in hive format back to a different subkey.
8.Reg query : Displays the data in a subkey or a value.
9.Reg restore : Writes saved subkeys and entries in hive format back to the Registry.
10.Reg save : Saves a copy of specified subkeys, entries, and values of the Registry in hive (binary) format.
11.Reg unload : Removes a section of the Registry that was loaded using reg load.
